The Dirty Details

This is five weeks of getting your hands properly into clay.

You’ll learn the three core hand-building skills: pinch, coil, and slab. We’ll show you how to build forms that hold together, smooth the bits that need smoothing, and turn vague ideas into real, finished pieces.

It’s structured enough to learn the fundamentals, loose enough to play. Expect a few wonky moments, lots of progress, and at least one “wait… I made that?” moment along the way.

🤫 What You'll Get Up To Each Week

Week 1: Clay 101 + Pinch Pots
We start at the very beginning. How clay works, how it dries, and how pieces stick together (or don’t). You’ll make pinch pots and learn proper joining so things actually hold up.

Week 2: Coiling
Time to build up and out. You’ll learn coiling techniques and how to smooth and refine your forms, with project ideas like cups and small vases to guide you.

Week 3: Soft Slabs
Roll it. Cut it. Assemble it. This week is all about slabs and structure, with projects like pencil holders, mugs, and plant pots. Clean joins and strong builds are the goal.

Week 4: Free Week or Underglaze
Your choose-your-own-adventure week. Paint what you’ve already made using underglaze (aka ceramic sauce), or use the time to make something new using the skills you’ve learned.

Week 5: Glazing Day
We bisque-fire your work and explain glazing without making it confusing. You’ll glaze your pieces, we’ll fire them, and they’ll be ready for pickup within two weeks.

📦 What's Included
  • Five x 2-hour guided sessions
  • Unlimited clay during class
  • All tools and materials and fresh aprons
  • Bisque + glaze firing

Important deets!

Nope. This course is built for total beginners. Zero experience required.

Just yourself and a water bottle. We’ve got the clay, tools, aprons, and everything else covered.

Something comfy that you don’t mind getting a bit dusty. Closed-toe shoes are a must. Clay washes out, but maybe skip your favourite outfit.

Water bottles only, please. No food or other drinks in the studio.

Your work will be ready for pickup approximately two weeks after the final glazing session. We’ll let you know when they’re ready to collect.

We’ll try our best to offer a make-up session during the first two weeks of the course, but it’s not guaranteed and depends on availability. The best plan is booking a course that works with your schedule.
