How It Works
Let’s break it down:
- You bring in your precious clay babies
- We weigh them, take payment, and hand you your firing tickets
- Pop a ticket with each piece and place them on the designated shelf
-
We fire them with care (and a little kiln magic)
🚫 Please note:
- We can’t accept unmarked work — make sure your pieces have initials or a stamp
- Work must be bone dry (no damp bottoms, please)
- No boxes or packaging can be left behind
-
Bring your box back with you when it’s time to collect
Ready to Fire? Here’s What to Do Next
Our studios are now set up with self-serve firing kiosks to make the process easy breezy. When you’re ready:
- Check studio hours (click here)
- Drop by during open times — no need to book
- Our team can walk you through it your first time
-
Leave your work, take your good vibes, and wait for the firing magic to happen
We’ll send you a text when your pieces are ready to collect. Turnaround is usually within 2 weeks, but timing may vary based on kiln schedules and piece size. We promise not to ghost you 👻
Important Firing Terms & Conditions
Pottery is unpredictable — and that’s part of the charm. But here’s what you need to know before firing with us:
🧪 Know Your Materials
You’re responsible for understanding the clay and glazes you’ve used, including:
- Clay type & cone rating
- Glaze behavior (e.g., if it runs)
-
Firing temperature needed
🚨 Firing Risks & Liability
- We are not liable for cracks, breaks, or glaze mishaps
- If your piece damages someone else’s work, you may be liable for their firing cost
- If your piece damages our kiln, repair fees will apply
- Misfires happen — if it's a kiln fault, we’ll refire or waive the fee
-
Lost or uncollected pieces will not be replaced
📏 Firing Rules
To keep the kiln gods happy:
- All work must be marked with initials or a maker’s stamp
- No wet work — pieces must be bone dry
- No glaze on the base — underglaze is fine
- No foreign materials (metal, wood, plastic, etc.)
-
Use kiln setters for:
- Runny glazes
- Iron-rich clays (e.g., BRT, FHB)
- Solid/thick pieces must be hollow with a visible vent hole
-
You’re responsible for any damage your work causes to:
- Kiln shelves ($25 cleaning fee or replacement cost)
-
Kiln interior (fees based on damage)
By submitting your work, you agree to these terms. Thanks for playing safe and firing smart ❤️
