Make a Dinner Set (5-Week Course)
Get ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into the world of pottery! Over five weeks, you’ll build and paint your very own dinner set—including 4 plates and 4 pasta bowls—using smooth, white Australian clay and our signature Crockd Ceramic Sauce (aka paint, but for pottery). No experience? No worries! We’ll guide you every step of the way.
How It Works:
- Weeks 1-4: Each week, you’ll make and decorate one plate and one bowl.
- Week 5: Learn how to clear glaze your set to make it glossy and food-safe in preparation for the kiln 🔥
What You’ll Learn:
- Soft slab hand-building techniques
- How to shape plates & bowls using MDF forms and plaster molds
- Underglaze decoration techniques
- How to clear glaze your work for that chef’s kiss finish
A Couple of Need-to-Knows:
⏳ Painting time is limited! The sample pieces we provide are realistic examples of what can be achieved in the class time. If you opt for a more detailed design, you may not have enough time to finish. We recommend doing a little research before your first class and bringing a few design ideas so your host can help you choose the best option.
🔥 Pottery is unpredictable. Plates and bowls have a higher risk of warping or cracking in the kiln—even for the pros. We take a lot of care to minimize this, but sometimes the kiln gods have other plans. Unfortunately, we can’t offer credits or refunds for damaged pieces.
📅 Pick a time slot that works for you! This course runs over five consecutive weeks, and we don’t offer make-up sessions or swapping of days, so be sure to choose a time slot that suits your schedule across the five-week period.
👕 Come prepped! Wear comfy clothes & shoes, keep nails short, and leave the valuable jewelry at home—it’s about to get messy.
