I always dreamed of making BIG pots.
Turns out... throwing huge amounts of clay is hard on your body.
So instead, I spent years refining another way. A technique that combines wheel throwing and coil building to create larger, more expressive forms.
Now, for the first time, I'm teaching it.
Not quite. This workshop is designed for potters who are already comfortable on the wheel. If you can confidently centre your clay and throw a basic cylinder, you're ready to learn coil throwing. Whether you've been throwing for 10 weeks or 10 years, this technique will help take your pottery to the next level.
You'll make two vessels throughout the day. First, you'll create a smaller practice piece to learn the technique. Then you'll put your new skills into action by creating a larger, more expressive vessel. One finished vessel is included for bisque firing.
Your booking includes 4.5 hours of tuition with Phebe Bianca, unlimited clay, pre-extruded coils, all tools and materials, apron hire, a welcome drink, a take-home instruction card and bisque firing for one finished vessel.
Just yourself! We provide everything you'll need to make pottery. We do recommend bringing a water bottle and a few snacks to keep you fuelled throughout the workshop.
